The number of couples having trouble conceiving (or at least seeking help for the issue) is on the rise. But the words ‘drugs’ and ‘clinics’ can be pretty terrifying. Before heading down that path, or maybe in conjunction with it, more people than ever before are seeking a more natural approach to boosting their fertility.
This is where supplements come in. Supplements are usually a formula specially created to increase fertility. And are made up of various natural ingredients. Although more commonly associated with female fertility, there are many combinations designed for male use too.

While most of the female blend on the market tend to be complicated and designed to address a number of issues (such as fatal health) that just don’t apply to men. The male equivalent is generally a little more straightforward. And is based on providing essential nutrients.
Here are some of the things to look out for when buying a fertility supplement for men.
Amino Acids (Arginine, Carnitine, Cysteine)
Amino acids work to aid male fertility in a number of ways. They have been found to increase the amount and the mobility of sperm.
If certain amino acids, such as Arginine, are taken in a large enough dose, they may even increase erection strength resulting in more intercourse.
Antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients (vitamin A, B9 (folic acid), D3, E, Glutathione, co-enzyme Q10 and pine bark extract)
These ingredients have been shown to increase the sperm’s ability to fertilize the egg, the number of ‘normally functioning’ sperm, and sperm count.
Deficiencies in vitamin D3 (obtained from sunlight) has also been firmly linked to infertility.
Trace elements (Zinc, Selenium)
Research findings claim that an increased intake of zinc can lead to drastically improved sperm ‘quality’. Men who supplement their diet with this ingredient can increase both their sperm count, and sperm movement by a significant amount.
While selenium works in conjunction with Glutathione to prevent oxidative damage to sperm.
If you’re going to go natural, you might as well go for organic ingredients.
Beware of ingredients without scientific research to back them up
While all of the ingredients above have research to back up their efficacy in improving male fertility, many products available add extra ingredients that have no proven worth as a way of standing out.
Without the investigations into what effect these ingredients have, it may be best to stay away. At least until it is clear there will be no detrimental effect on either your health or your fertility.
Whichever you choose, it is important to realize that results will take time. The ingredients contained in the supplement will need a chance to build up within the body, so be patient and consistent, don’t expect to conceive overnight.
